Getting Involved

The Canadian Cadet Organization relies on volunteers in order to fulfill its mandate towards the youth in the program.

There are multiple avenues and time commitments that are available to parents in order for them to get more involved in the success of their youth.

Parents are encouraged to speak to the SSC or a staff member for more information.

JOIN THE SQUADRON SPONSORING COMMITTEE

The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) is a committee of civilian volunteers that are responsible for the squadron’s finances. They are responsible for fundraising and work with the Commanding Officer to create an annual budget and allocate funds for squadron activities.

Desired skills include: Fundraising, business knowledge, finances, event planning.

VOLUNTEER AS A STAFF MEMBER

Our civilian training staff are considered our Squadron’s ‘middle management’. They assist with instruction, supervision, administration, training, supply, training coordination and more.

Desired skills include: Previous cadet experience, experience working with youth, knowledge of the cadet training program, administration skills.

ENROL IN THE CADET INSTRUCTOR CADRE

In addition to our civilian staff, we also have uniformed Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) Officers.

These CIC Officers are a part of the Cadet Organization Administration and Training Service (COATS) sub-component of the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserve. Our uniformed Officers are considered ‘senior management’ at our Squadron and are ultimately responsible for all training and development that our cadets undergo.

Parents without prior cadet experience that are interested in enrolling in the CIC may want to consider first volunteering as a civilian staff member.
